Many pilots have asked “What can I do to evaluate my health”… that is fast, simple and economical?

Over twenty-five years ago Dr. Terrell started offering comprehensive blood testing that could be done while the pilot was here getting his/her flight physical.  The large number of items reported on can be rather intimidating to the non-medical person, so doc wrote a computer program to print out a personalized letter.  This letter explains what all the lab numbers mean – even your Aunt Matilda could understand it. This turned out to be tremendously popular and has been continued as part of the services offered.

The blood testing covers about fifty different tests and, if requested, can also include the PSA test for prostate cancer.  The cost for the basic panel is $160.  The PSA test ($68) is recommended annually for all males over age 50.  We can provide you with a receipt to file with your insurance.  I just can't promise they will pay for it.

The report covers: a complete blood count, thyroid activity, liver function, kidney function, blood sugar now and an average level for the past 4 months, mineral balance, general nutrition, and a comprehensive evaluation of all five cholesterols.

These test results are available in 24 hours.  If there is something urgent you need to know about, doc will be on the phone to your cell, home, pager, etc., immediately the next morning.  If all is OK, you will get the 8-10 page personalized letter and a copy of the lab report in a few days along with any recommendations.  For those who have had prior testing here, a comparison of the new to the old will be made in the letter.

This is a quick, simple, cost effective way to screen for most of the common threats to your health.  It doesn’t cover everything but it sure does cover all the usual problems (diabetes, cholesterol, anemia, low thyroid, etc.).  The testing has successfully discovered and headed off more than a few career altering medical problems in the past 25 years.
